Black Bordello return with new album ‘White Bardo’.
The band’s crisp debut album received acclaim with its theatrical songwriting, mixing an unimaginable sense of presence with some astute melodic twists and turns. An electrifying stay proposition, the four-piece went straight into the studio to construct a follow-up – and it’s lastly right here.
Out now, new LP ‘White Bardo’ finds Black Bordello grappling with contemporary challenges, lead by the fiery sound of vocalist Sienna Bordello.
“Our first album was an expertise of me ending adolescence and realising that the grownup world was extra laced with misogyny and different disparities,” Sienna displays; “I turned fed up and bored by earthly politics and semantics, therefore my present fascination with the metaphysical world and outer area”.
Lead single ‘Nunhead’ was an entrance level, one framed by their South East London locality. A lot of the fabric was honed within the rehearsal and stay onstage, with Black Bordello refusing to be hemmed in by expectation.
Earlier this 12 months, for instance, they launched Black Bordello’s Chaos Cabaret – an occasion that bought out Paper Gown Classic in East London, showcasing musical performances, clowning, set design, theatre and poetry.
“Everybody was given a masks on the best way in,” Sienna says. “Which meant that the viewers seemed like one thing out of Eyes Extensive Shut. There was an enormous purple piñata within the form of a drop of blood which the viewers destroyed upon request. It was stuffed with confetti, glitter, cigarettes and band merch.”
