“I’ve all the time liked songs that contradict themselves. The music of this tune is kind of melancholic and uncertain of itself, whereas the lyrics are simply pure love. It’s sort of becoming that the connection I used to be writing about didn’t work out ultimately; I used to be singing one thing that I didn’t imagine and that’s evident within the tune. Musically, that is probably the most “alt-rock” we’ve ever been; it’s romantic, determined and boastful,” says vocalist Jack Lawther.
“Compared to the refined optimism of our debut EP, the songs on our new EP are darkish, hedonistic and dramatic,” he continues. “There’s all the time been that facet of the band current, so it felt proper to characterize it correctly. Sonically, it’s all much more intense than the primary EP too and we’ve actually made probably the most of our musical arsenal with regards to the preparations.”
Flat Occasion tour the UK this November, culminating in a London headline at The Lexington on 27 November.
