Breeders legend Kim Deal goes solo on new single ‘Coast’.

New single ‘Coast’ nonetheless is one thing utterly completely different. Seemingly Kim Deal’s first ‘official’ solo outing, it owes a debt to a night at her pal Mike Montgomery’s marriage ceremony.
As Kim recollects, the home band jammed on Jimmy Buffett’s 1977 ‘Margaritaville’ with “revelatory ranges of low vanity”, and he or she took this seed and planted it.
Lyrically, it recollects a 2000 break on the Massachusetts island of Nantucket, observing these “stunning youngsters on the coast” with a surrealist eye.
In a touching twist, it was produced by the late, nice Steve Albini at his Electrical Audio studio in Chicago. Kim Deal is joined by a rhythm part of Lindsay Glover and Breeders alum Mando Lopez; Kelley Deal performs guitar, whereas horns are supplemented by Chicago marching band Mucca Pazza.
A blast of off kilter alt rock, ‘Coast’ sits outwith Kim’s earlier releases, containing a flavour and character all of its personal.
