Walthamstow artist LYAM has introduced his second album. ‘The Artwork Of Letting Go’, out September sixth on W3LY2 (weloveyoutoo*) through Platoon.
LYAM (actual title Liam Harris-Williams) follows up his debut ‘N_O CALLER ID‘ with an “artist album” that includes appearances and manufacturing from Jianbo, Wiki, Mura Masa and Jeshi collaborator ineedsound.
“Hear me on the radio, by no means felt so within the zone” LYAM declares on comeback single ‘2 Sizzling 4 THIS’, roping in fellow nonconformist John Glacier. Over turbo-charged rap-punk propulsion, the pair’s invocations tackle a mantric bent in an ode to fortitude within the face if adversity.
‘The Artwork Of Letting Go’ is a collaborative, cosmopolitan tapestry, ripe with quotables and street-level colloquials. Sonically, LYAM tackles alt-rock and breakbeat jungle with a cinematic luminosity centred on his lithe, supple bars. The twelve monitor assortment radiates freedom and resistance, “penning down the cost of former relationships, setting it alight and letting it go.”
