Silas Brief returns with new single ‘ILIKEU’.
The soulful aesthete grew up in and round Milwaukee, raised in a household who adored music. Absorbing every little thing from the adoration of gospel via to the boundaryless voyages of free jazz, his EP ‘Drawing’ represented an area for these sounds to coalesce.
Now splitting his time between Chicago and LA – two cities with their very own distinct music traditions – Silas Brief is forging his personal path. Working with Stones Throw, he leans on the jazzier fringe of neo-soul, whereas additionally giving these influences a neat twist.
Out now, ‘ILIKEU’ is a young track of infatuation, tapping into the preliminary buzz of assembly somebody you’re occupied with – and it’s reciprocated.
There’s a mushy analogue edge to the sonics, and that is mirrored within the video – directed by Jackie Radinsky and Silas, which boasts visible cues of the well-known 1983 Maxell industrial, The Matrix and Gregg Araki’s Nowhere.
