Indie pop group Sungaze unlock maturity on their new self-titled album.
The LP is their third thus far, a journey kicked off on their 2019 debut album. Fashioned by Ian Hilvert and Ivory Snow, Sungaze have grown right into a five-piece, with their materials increasing with every recent voice.
Out now, new album ‘Sungaze’ matches 5 of their heavier moments, songs consistent with their live performance thrust, alongside 5 somewhat extra intimate moments.
There’s a slight David Lynch really feel to a few of this, with ‘New Twang’ sounding like Mazzy Star, and the ghost of Galaxie 500 haunting ‘Pity’.
Elsewhere it’s maybe harking back to Seashore Fossils and even Widowspeak, with Sungaze transferring from crunching guitar chords to whispered incantations.

We like to think about this album as a coming-of-age album. The songs are extra private and direct than we’ve written up to now, and every monitor on this album particulars fairly main life themes which have been current for us up to now few years. And as is commonly displayed in coming of age tales, there was a component of soul-searching and a degree of self-acceptance that wanted to occur to ensure that this album to even exist in any respect.
