Danish garage-pop duo The Courettes have shared new single ‘California’.
The band are cult heroes, with their sensational dwell act taking them around the globe. CLASH caught them at SXSW earlier this 12 months, laying waste to a sweaty dive bar on the competition’s last night time.
Hitting the studio, new album ‘The Soul Of The Fabulous Courettes’ is out on September twenty seventh. Forward of this, the band have simply shared a brand new single, with ‘California’ matching their helter-skelter rock ‘n’ roll thrills to some classic 60s pop.
Penned on the West Coast, ‘California’ is layered in Byrds-style guitars, the drifting, proto-psychedelic really feel hemmed in by storage punk power.
A speed-freak phantasy that journeys by means of West Coast mythology, ‘California’ is topped off by an unimaginable visitor vocal from dwelling legend La La Brooks, from the Crystals.
“‘California’ is a music we wrote on our first tour in California final 12 months,” explains guitarist and singer
Flavia Couri. “We wished to carry all of the sunshine and a few psychedelic vibes from The Byrds, the
Laurel Canyon, and tons of 12-string guitars to our songwriting. However one way or the other the lyrics saved some
black clouds. It talks about touring and leaving your family members behind. Any musician on the street
can relate to this. Though you’ll be able to have a good time around the globe, you’re at all times lacking

To have La La singing with us is an absolute delight and honour. It’s so surreal that we haven’t even realised it has actually occurred! For the blending our producer Søren Christensen has teamed up with the implausible Darian Sahanaja (who produced and combined at least Brian Wilson’s SMiLE album) to enlighten much more the Californian good.”
