Towa Bird announces her debut album, American Hero

On “Sorry Sorry,” Towa brings her wistful vocals and delicately crafted lyrics to a music exploring what she refers to as “the uncertainties and insecurities of falling in love with a buddy.”

“Everyone knows this sense: understanding that you just love them as buddy, however that there’ll all the time be one thing extra, one thing unsaid,” says Towa. “The music delves into my inside monologue — a journey of weighing dangers, asking a collection of what-ifs, giving an excessive amount of consideration to irrational fears. Elevating my defenses so excessive that I nearly psych myself out. Worrying I would lose them and worrying that issues won’t ever be the identical.”

“The title of American Hero is totally ironic — I’m not American, and in my opinion I’m not heroic both,” says Towa, who was principally raised in Thailand and London. “These songs are me being fully sincere about queer love and all its essence; there’s plenty of craving and vulnerability and coping with troublesome feelings. I grew up listening to so many male-gazey love songs, and it was vital to place one thing out into the world that felt just like the music I needed for myself after I was a child.”
